Highway safety improvement project in Warren County has started

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A highway project has started in Warren County and may impact traffic.

According to transportation officials, a highway safety improvement project on Interstate 165 at exit 7 U.S. 231 Morgantown Road in Bowling Green is active.

This project will convert the current interchange, officials say. While the road will remain open throughout the project, drivers may notice a change in traffic patterns.

The speed limit on U.S. 231 has lowered to 35 miles per hour through the work zone.

Officials say the 45-mph area has extended north of the work zone to Veterans Memorial Highway. One lane in each direction of U.S. 231 is expected to be closed beginning Tuesday, April 15. Drivers should use caution while traveling in this area.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says the purpose of the project is to improve safety and mobility along the U.S. 231 Morgantown Road corridor due recent developments changing traffic patterns.

The project is expected to be completed later this fall.
