Honduran national indicted on charges of illegal re-entry and firearm possession in Warren County

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A Honduran national, removed from the United States on two occasions, is facing illegal re-entry and firearm possession charges.

The Western District of Kentucky says an indictment shows that Alexis Pinto-Mejia, 38, of Honduras, was charged with possessing a firearm on February 25, 2024, in Warren County. Pinto-Mejia was illegally and unlawfully in the United States.

According to the indictment, Pinto-Mejia was also charged with illegally re-entering the United States after being denied admission, excluded, deported, and removed from the United States on or about April 4, 2006, and July 6, 2016.

Pinto-Mejia appeared before the U.S. Magistrate Judge of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Kentucky and was ordered to be detained pending trial.

Pinto-Mejia faces up to 17 years in prison. There is no parole in the federal system.
