Todd County woman charged with assault after detective injured

SHARON GROVE, Ky. – A Todd County woman is facing charges after a detective was transported for an injury.
According to a uniform citation, on March 20, the Todd County Sheriff’s Department and Pennyrile Narcotics Task Force were working to find 33-year-old Paula Herrin at a residence on Shemwell Road in Sharon Grove.
Authorities say they had received an anonymous tip about the residence and confirmed Herrin had seven active warrants.
Upon arrival and speaking to several individuals, authorities say they made contact with Herrin and a male.
Deputies say the male stepped out after a toilet flushed in the bathroom nearby. The male was detained, while the PNTF detective turned to arrest Herrin, officials say.
The citation states during this time, Herrin “launched herself backwards” into the detective and landed against him, knocking them both back to the ground. Authorities say it was evident the detective’s foot was broken.
Herrin was placed into handcuffs.
Inside of a purse, authorities say they located needles and methamphetamine identified by Herrin.
Herrin is lodged at the Todd County Detention Center on charges of second-degree assault, resisting arrest, first-degree possession of a controlled substance, third or greater offense (methamphetamine) and drug paraphernalia – buy/possess.
