Larue County deputy jailer charged with promoting contraband

HODGENVILLE, Ky. – A Larue County deputy jailer is behind bars after authorities say he is accused of promoting contraband.

According to the Hodgenville Police Department, officers were notified on March 18 by Larue County jailer Jody Perry that a deputy jailer was suspected of misconduct.

Police say following an investigation, they arrested deputy jailer Paul Dyer, 59, of Lebanon.

Authorities say it was revealed that Dyer had “allowed inmates under his supervision to possess and use contraband.”

Dyer was charged with first-degree promoting contraband and official misconduct. He remains at the Hardin County Detention Center.

The investigation remains ongoing.
