Bowling Green man charged with DUI, fleeing police

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A Bowling Green man is facing multiple charges after hitting two utility poles.

According to a uniform citation, the Bowling Green Police Department observed a a silver 2015 Chrysler run off of the road and hit a pole at the intersection of 11th Avenue and Adams Street.

Police say the vehicle continued traveling, turning down 12th Avenue at a high rate of speed.

Authorities say they tried to begin a traffic stop, however, the vehicle continued traveling and fled at a high rate of speed down Fair Street.

Police disengaged from the pursuit at this time. They say they observed the vehicle hit another pole on Fair Street at Brownslock Road.

Upon arrival, police say they saw officers had the driver at gunpoint.

The driver, identified as 27-year-old Bobby Nuckols III of Bowling Green, was taken into custody.

While speaking with police, officers stated they asked Nuckols why he didn’t stop when he hit the first pole and flattened his front tire. Police say Nuckols stated that he “was still getting used to driving the vehicle.”

Police say court records show Nuckols has pleaded guilty to four past DUI cases.

Authorities say they located a scale with a white powder substance on it, which Nuckols identified as cocaine. According to police, Nuckols stated he had used cocaine that day.

Nuckols was transported to The Medical Center at Bowling Green for medical clearance before being lodged at the Warren County Regional Jail.

He is charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, fourth or greater offense, first-degree fleeing or evading police (motor vehicle), first-degree possession of a controlled substance, first offense (cocaine), drug paraphernalia – buy/possess, disregarding a stop sign, driving on a DUI suspended license, second offense, leaving the scene of an accident – failure to render aid or assistance and reckless driving.
