Bowling Green man charged with fleeing police after traffic stop

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A Bowling Green man is facing multiple charges after deputies say he fled during a traffic stop.

According to a uniform citation, the Warren County Sheriff’s Office observed a tan Hyundai Elantra traveling on Lost Woods Avenue toward Nashville Road on Monday evening.

Deputies say the vehicle showed an expired plate, leading to a traffic stop.

Authorities say while the vehicle was stopped, the driver, identified as James Minnick, 32, of Bowling Green, did not follow commands and ran from the vehicle.

Deputies say as they ran after Minnick, he ran across the southbound lanes of Nashville Road and ran into the back of a passing truck.

Authorities say Minnick was then recovering from this when he continued to run toward the northbound lanes.

According to deputies, they then deployed a taser on Minnick and took him into custody.

During this time, deputies say they were nearly struck by a vehicle.

Authorities say Minnick later stated he had fled due to active warrants, which were both confirmed out of Pulaski County.

Minnick was transported to The Medical Center at Bowling Green for medical clearance and later taken to the Warren County Regional Jail.

He faces charges of third-degree fleeing or evading police, two counts of first-degree wanton endangerment of a police officer, possession of marijauana, no registration plates and operating on a suspended or revoked operators license.
