Bowling Green man allegedly fires weapon to scare children

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A Bowling Green man is facing several charges after allegedly firing a gun during an argument with children.

The Bowling Green Police Department responded to a shots fired complaint in the 1100 block of Angora Court on Sunday evening.

Police say a man was observed yelling at a female across the road when they arrived at the apartment complex.. An officer says the man possibly had a handgun in a holster. The officer asked the man if he possessed a gun and the man reached for the gun. The officer placed the man at gunpoint. The man walked into a residence and returned without a weapon.

The officer detained Kenneth Bunton, 43, Bowling Green. Bunton allegedly told police he placed his gun inside the residence before returning outside.

Bunton allegedly told police two female juveniles were standing near his property and one of the girls was upsetting him. Bunton says the girls told him they were “going to get their parents.” He said he fired one round into the air to scare them. Police say a spent shell casing was located inside the residence.

Witnesses at the scene told officers Bunton may have fired additional rounds and walked in neighboring property.

Bunton was arrested and taken to the Warren County Regional Jail.

Bunton is charged with wanton endangerment-1st degree, disorderly conduct-2nd degree, menacing, and BG 2012 – 2 discharge of firearms unlawful.
