Franklin-Simpson Fire Rescue, several fire departments battle brush fire

FRANKLIN, Ky. – A brush fire broke out on Monday, February 3 in Franklin.
Franklin-Simpson Fire-Rescue said it received a report of a brush fire spreading close to structures in the area of 2875 Macedonia Road near South Franklin Baptist Church just after Noon.
Fire Chief J. Leslie Goodrum says the fire spread quickly and jumped the roadway into an overgrown area. Firefighters worked through high wind and rough terrain.
Chief Goodrum requested assistance from available neighboring districts. Woodburn, Browning, Auburn, and Highland Fire Departments responded to assist in extinguishing the fire.
No structures were damaged. No injuries were reported.
Chief Goodrum says the cause of the fire is unknown.
