UPDATE: Scottsville man found asleep in church parking lot, allegedly possessed 17 grams of meth
SCOTTSVILLE, Ky. – A Scottsville man has been arrested twice within a day after deputies say he was found asleep in a stolen vehicle.
On Thursday, the Allen County Sheriff’s Office responded to a complaint at Liberty Baptist Church on Halifax Road.
At the scene, deputies say they located Zachery Rexroat, 35, of Scottsville, asleep inside a vehicle. Since then, authorities say they have discovered that vehicle was stolen.
Following an investigation, deputies say they learned Rexroat possessed approximately 17 grams of suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia with him when they initially found him.
Rexroat was arrested Thursday. After learning the vehicle was stolen on Friday, deputies say they went to interview Rextroat but discovered he had already been released from the Allen County Detention Center.
Deputies say they went and found Rextroat, who was again placed under arrest and returned to the Allen County Detention Center.
Rextroat is charged with first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, first offense (less than 2 grams methamphetamine), public intoxication-controlled substance (excludes alcohol) and possession of a controlled substance. He now also faces a charge of theft by unlawful taking or disposition auto between $1,000 and $10,000.
