SCOTTSVILLE, Ky. – A Scottsville man is facing charges after police say he pointed a gun at them during a response for a domestic incident.

According to the Scottsville Police Department, officers were dispatched just before 5:30 p.m. Sunday to the 100 block of Walker Street for a report of an argument.

Police say the caller stated a man on scene was “heavily intoxicated” and was approaching him aggressively but that it did not turn physical.

The caller stated there were not weapons in the home, according to police.

Upon arrival, police say they entered to speak with a subject, 35-year-old Antonio Santiago of Scottsville.

Police say Santiago acted like he was asleep in his room before sitting upright. Authorities say Santiago smelled strongly of alcohol and had slurred speech.

According to police, Santiago became verbally aggressive at times and stepped toward officers.

Police say Santiago then collapsed in the hallway in what was believed to be a fake episode, leading to an EMS call.

Authorities say Santiago then took out a small handgun from his waist and pointed it at law enforcement.

Police say they got the gun out of Santiago’s hand and tried to detain him, however, he was resisting.

Santiago remained uncooperative when EMS arrived, authorities say, leading police to travel with him to The Medical Center at Scottsville for medical clearance.

He was then transported to the Allen County Detention Center.

Santiago is charged with two counts of first-degree wanton endangerment of a police officer, two counts of menacing and resisting arrest.
