LOUISVILLE, Ky. – A Louisville man has been sentenced for firing shots at Louisville mayor Craig Greenberg during a mayoral campaign in 2022.

According to the United States Attorney’s Office, Western District of Kentucky, court documents state 24-year-old Quintez Brown “walked into Greenberg’s campaign office and fired multiple shots at Greenberg while he was meeting with four staffers.”

Officials say staffers were able to barricade the door. Brown was apprehended several blocks away while carrying the gun he used in a backpack, according to officials.

As part of a guilty plea, officials say, Brown stated he had acted because Greenberg was running for mayor.

In July 2024, officials say Brown pleaded guilty to interfering with a federally protected activity and using and discharging a firearm in relation with a crime of violence.

Brown is sentenced to 17 years and 6 months in federal prison, followed by five years of supervised release.

The FBI, ATF and Louisville Metro Police Department investigated the case.
