Multiple crashes impact morning traffic in Owensboro

OWENSBORO, Ky. – Two different crashes caused traffic delays Thursday morning in Owensboro.

According to the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office, an initial collision occurred on the eastbound lanes of U.S. 60 Bypass when a state highway crew filling potholes was rear ended by a passenger car.

Deputies say a tractor-trailer lost control when approaching the crash and overturned. Authorities say the truck lost its load of aluminum products.

Due to the weight of the aluminum, deputies say special equipment had to load them back onto the truck.

The tractor-trailer driver was the only occupant that reported injuries, deputies say.

A lane closure began at 9:25 a.m. on the eastbound section of the Wendell Ford Expressway between Frederica Street and U.S. 231.

All lanes that closed due to the second crash reopened by 11:55 p.m., according to deputies.
