Firefighters respond to structure fire in Hopkinsville

HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. – More details have emerged about a New Year’s Day structure fire in Hopkinsville.

Firefighters from two stations worked a fire along Vera Drive, adjacent to West Second Street, on Wednesday.

Firefighters say they were called out after law enforcement patrolling the area noticed smoke.

Firefighters say they arrived within three minutes and found a well-involved single-family home on fire.

Due to the advanced involvement of the fire and stability concerns with the roof, firefighters operated a defensive operation only, meaning they were not able to enter the structure.
