Edmonson County Water District issues boil water advisory

EDMONSON COUNTY, Ky. – The Edmonson County Water District is issuing a boil water advisory starting Monday.

According to a social media post by the district, it has issued a boil water advisory “because the potential exists for bacteriological contamination due to low pressure or no pressure because of pump failure.”

The Edmonson County Water District says the areas affected by this advisory include all customers north of Brownsville to Vanmeter School Road, Highway 728 from 259 to and include Wilderness Road, 70 West to 185, Highway 1872, Highway 185 and all side roads.

This advisory will remain in effect until water samples are taken, and the threat of contamination has been eliminated to the satisfaction of the Environmental Protection Agency, the district says.

All of those affected must boil water to a full boil for at least three minutes.

In total, the district says this advisory impacts roughly 3,945 customers.
