Troopers apprehend man charged in Washington County murder

SPRINGFIELD, Ky. – The Kentucky State Police says it is investigating after apprehending a man charged in a Washington County murder.
According to a release, the Kentucky State Police received a call early Friday morning from the Springfield Police Department to request investigative assistance regarding a shooting at a residence on Claybrook Avenue in Springfield.
Troopers say they responded with detectives to the home and began an investigation.
So far, troopers say it has been determined someone forced their way into the home and shot two women before running from the scene.
Kadesha Burch, 31, of Springfield was found dead in the residence from an apparent gunshot wound, authorities say. The second female, Frances Campbell, 52, of Springfield, was injured by an apparent gunshot wound and was transported to the hospital for treatment of injuries.
Roosevelt Davis, 23, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin was identified as a suspect.
KSP says it issued a statewide bulletin to law enforcement for an attempt to locate Davis.
Authorities say this led to an officer with the Shelbyville Police Department to conduct a traffic stop on a Chevrolet Malibu, where they identified the driver as Davis.
After KSP detectives responded to the Shelbyville Police Department, authorities say they made contact with Davis and arrested him.
Davis is charged with murder, murder (attempt) and first-degree burglary. He remains at the Shelby County Detention Center.
The investigation is ongoing.
The Springfield Police Department, Washington County Coroner’s Office, Shelbyville Police Department and other KSP troopers and detectives assisted at the scene.
