Louisville man sentenced in drug trafficking conspiracy case
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – A Louisville man is facing 27 years in federal prison on multiple felony offenses.
According to the United States Attorney’s Office, Western District of Kentucky, these include conspiracy to possess with the intent to distribute controlled substances, possession with the intent to distribute fentanyl, heroin, and cocaine, possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime and escape.
According to court documents, 29-year-old Chicoby Summers was sentenced Thursday to 25 years in prison, followed by five years supervised release.
Summers was sentenced to an additional two years in prison to run consecutively with the 25-year sentence for a total of 27 years, for violation of his supervised release.
Officials say Summers and his co-defendant, Jerlen Horton, were convicted following a seven-day jury trial in July of this year.
In November of this year, officials say Horton was sentenced to serve 29 years and a six months, followed by five years of supervised release, for conspiracy to possess with the intent to distribute over one kilogram of fentanyl, over 250 grams of heroin, and a mixture of cocaine base, commonly referred to as “crack cocaine,” possession with the intent to distribute fentanyl, heroin, and cocaine and possession of a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking.
There is no parole in the federal system.
The ATF and LMPD investigated the case, with assistance from the FBI, DEA, United States Postal Inspection Service, Kentucky State Police, Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, Long Beach California Police Department, Verdigris Oklahoma Police Department and the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department.
