Bowling Green man charged with fleeing police

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A Bowling Green man is facing charges after police say he fled law enforcement on Friday.

According to a uniform citation, the Bowling Green Police Department was on patrol when an officer observed a male identified as Julian Hanna, 34, of Bowling Green.

Police say Hanna was wanted on multiple active warrants and made contact with him in the parking lot of Family Dollar at 425 Gordon Ave.

The officer then exited his cruiser and attempted to speak with Hanna, who police say told them he did not have to speak with them or provide his name.

Police say while trying to detain Hanna, he then pulled away and began to run toward Gordon Avenue. During this time, the citation says Hanna did not follow verbal commands to stop and continued to run.

Police say they grabbed Hanna’s backpack to stop him and brought him to the ground, where they say he continued to try to pull away.

Following a brief struggle, police placed Hanna into custody.

While searching Hanna, police say they found a crystalline substance consistent with methamphetamine in his pocket.

Hanna was arrested and transported to the Warren County Regional Jail. He is charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance, first offense (methamphetamine), drug paraphernalia – buy/possess, third-degree fleeing or evading police and resisting arrest.
