Bowling Green man charged with DUI, drug trafficking

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A man is facing multiple charges, including driving under the influence, in Bowling Green on Tuesday.
According to a uniform citation, the Bowling Green Police Department observed a blue minivan traveling southbound around 5:30 p.m. on Adams Street at Veterans Memorial Lane.
Police say they observed the minivan slowly swerve from the right lane to the middle between two lanes. The citation states the vehicle also swerved into the left lane, where it caused another vehicle to serve out of the way and almost hit a curb.
Police say they attempted a traffic stop, however, the minivan did not stop near the intersection of East Main Avenue and continued traveling southbound on Adams Street to East 12th Avenue, where it made a left turn.
Authorities were then able to stop the vehicle, which was being driven by Taylor Hudson, 76, of Bowling Green.
Police say Hudson’s eyes were dilated, and he was stuttering over his statements.
Hudson stated he had seen the officer’s emergency lights but did not stop due to not thinking the officer was stopping him.
After Hudson exited the vehicle, police say they observed an empty glass pipe commonly used with methamphetamine land on the road.
Police say they had to assist Hudson when he tried to walk from his vehicle to the front of the patrol car.
While conducting a search, police say they learned Hudson possessed a clear bag of a white crystal substance that appeared to be methamphetamine.
Hudson stated the white crystal substance was “most likely methamphetamine” and that he used it either early that morning or late the night prior, according to the citation. Police say the total weight of the suspected methamphetamine was 2.7 grams.
Hudson was transported to The Medical Center at Bowling Green for medical clearance before being taken to the Warren County Detention Center.
He is charged with first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, first offense (greater than or equal to 2 grams of methamphetamine), second-degree fleeing or evading police, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of a controlled substance, first offense, drug paraphernalia – buy/possess and no operators-moped license.
