Hillvue Heights Church hosts Night of Honor to remember local veterans

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Even though Veterans Day is on Monday, one local organization is honoring those who served a bit early.

Hillvue Heights Church held their 8th annual Night of Honor, where they pay tribute to those who have given the ultimate sacrifice.

One of the most unique things they do during the ceremony is have a table set aside for those who are not able to make it home called the Missing Man Table.

Pastor and former veteran himself Kevin Estes started this tradition as a way to pay respects to those who came before and after him.

“A few years ago, eight years ago, I had this vision because I was a former veteran myself… and we wanted to get those guys in to hear the gospel of Jesus and honor them… so that’s what we do,” he says.

The night featured dinner and a guest speaker as well.

We at News 40 want to thank all veterans in South Central Kentucky for their service.
