Med Center Health receives sexual assault nursing certifications at two hospitals

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Kentucky Cabinet for Healthy and Family services has granted certifications to The Medical Center.

The agency recognized The Medical Center at Bowling Green and The Medical Center at Albany as SANE ready hospitals. SANE is an acronym for Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner.

The hospitals have a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner on call at all times. Med Center says Bowling Green has tripled its credentialed SANE nurses over a two-year period. It is now a 24/7 SANE hospital.

The Medical Center at Bowling Green is the only hospital in the Barren River Area Development District to receive the certification and is one of only 19 hospitals across Kentucky.

Med Center Health says it now employees 15 SANE nurses across its hospitals, with 11 in Bowling Green.
