Gov. Andy Beshear gives update on medical cannabis vote during Team Kentucky
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – During his Team Kentucky update Thursday, Gov. Andy Beshear gave an update on the medical cannabis vote from Tuesday night.
Beshear announced all 106 cities and counties that put this option on the ballot voted to allow businesses to operate in their communities.
According to the map shown during the update, every county in south-central Kentucky except for Allen County will have access to medical cannabis in either their county or city, and Beshear says this is a huge deal for Kentuckians.
“But this signals what we’ve known for a long time, which is the jury is no longer out on medical cannabis. Kentuckians overwhelmingly want families, friends and neighbors who have serious medical conditions like cancer, multiple sclerosis or PTSD to have safe and affordable access. We’re going to keep our promise to make sure that they will,” he says.
The lottery to determine where dispensaries will be located in South Central Kentucky is set to take place on Nov. 25.
News 40 will keep you up to date when these locations are announced.
