‘Light Up the Capitol’ fundraiser returns for the holiday season
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — The Warren County Public Library’s annual “Light Up the Capitol” fundraiser is returning this holiday season to support improvements to the historic theater in downtown Bowling Green.
The fundraiser kicks off on Friday, Nov. 1 and includes a grand lighting as part of the downtown BGKY Lights Up events on Friday, Dec. 6.
According to a release by the library, their goal has been to keep the Capitol a vital part of the community.
To help make this possible, the library has had help the last several holiday seasons from donors for “Light Up The Capitol.”
The fundraiser invites the community to sponsor red and green bulbs under the marquee that are illuminated during the lights up celebration.
Patrons may sponsor light bulbs at the following levels:
- 1 bulb for $25
- 5 bulbs for $100
- A square for $250
- An entire row for $500
The money goes to building improvement projects, such as this year’s floor resurfacing and the exterior repainting project under the marquee, according to the library.
In addition, a new feature this year is the “add a snowflake” option, which offers a lower-cost way to give $5 for a personalized snowflake hung in the lobby.
