Woman arrested after allegedly leaving scene of collision in Russellville
RUSSELLVILLE, Ky. – A Bowling Green woman is facing multiple charges in relation to a reported collision Sunday night in Russellville.
According to a uniform citation, the Logan County Sheriff’s Office responded Sunday around 7:23 p.m. to the 5500 block of Franklin Road for a hit-and-run collision.
Upon arrival, deputies say they spoke to a driver, who stated he was traveling eastbound on Franklin Road when a vehicle behind him appeared to be driving very closely.
The citation states the driver said when he reached Life Line Church on Franklin Road, the vehicle behind him unexpectedly passed along the right side of the ditch, side swiping him from behind and hitting the front passenger side of his vehicle and a mailbox belonging to the church.
Deputies say the driver stated the vehicle did not stop and continued toward Simpson County.
According to authorities, debris was consistent with how the driver described the incident.
Simpson County deputies located the suspected vehicle still traveling east on Franklin Road with severe front end damage, the citation says. In addition, deputies say the vehicle was missing a front tire, with the wheel directly hitting the pavement.
The driver was identified as Michelle Walker, 35, of Bowling Green.
Walker stated she had been driving behind vehicle of the complainant on Franklin Road and passed him “due to him breaking heavily,” the citation states.
Deputies say the complainant denied that statement and said he was traveling with the flow of traffic.
Additionally, deputies say they learned Walker’s license had been suspended indefinitely as of last year.
Walker also had a minor in her vehicle during this incident, according to deputies.
Walker was arrested and is charged with leaving the scene of an accident – failure to render aid or assistance, first-degree wanton endangerment, no registration receipt, no registration plates, operating on a suspended or revoked operators license, failure of owner to maintain required insurance/security, first offense, failure to produce insurance card, reckless driving and second-degree criminal mischief.
