Tennessee woman arrested on DUI charge after wreck in Simpson County
FRANKLIN, Ky. – A woman is facing multiple charges after a wreck in Franklin on Tuesday.
According to a uniform citation, the Simpson County Sheriff’s Office responded Tuesday around 9:40 p.m. for a two-vehicle head on collision in the area of Gold City Road and Roark Road.
Deputies say upon arrival, they located Sarah Rader, 32, of Westmoreland, Tennessee near a 2008 white Ford Expedition.
According to authorities, Rader had been driving the vehicle northbound on Gold City Road when her vehicle crossed into the southbound lane. Deputies say her vehicle struck a a 1993 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 head on that was traveling southbound and being driven by Zackery Nealy of Franklin, Kentucky.
Rader’s Expedition then overturned and struck an embankment before turning upright again, authorities say. Deputies say Nealy’s pickup spun before stopping near the initial impact area. Nealy was flown to Nashville after being transported to The Medical Center at Franklin for treatment.
His condition is not known at this time.
The sheriff’s office says Rader did not have obvious severe injuries.
Deputies say a witness told them Rader had stated she had been drinking before the collision.
Authorities say Rader had slow speech and behavior and a revoked or suspended license in Tennessee.
According to the citation, Rader’s preliminary breathe test measured at .315.
Rader stated she had drank prior to leaving her job, deputies say.
Upon a search, deputies say they located a THC container with a Gabapentin pill and a small glass stem with marijuana residue.
Officials say Rader also grabbed a fireball shooter from her purse and threw it into a nearby field, where it could not be located.
Rader was arrested and transported to The Medical Center at Franklin for a medical clearance and blood draw.
She is charged with third-degree possession of a controlled substance, drug unspecified, prescription controlled substance not in proper container, first offense, drug paraphernalia – buy/possess, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/substance, first offense (aggravated circumstances), first-degree wanton endangerment, tampering with physical evidence, operating on a suspended or revoked operators license, possession of an open alcoholic beverage container in a motor vehicle prohibited and failure of owner to maintain required insurance/security, first offense.
The investigation is ongoing.
