BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Historic RailPark and Train Museum in Bowling Green has announced the final phase of a fundraising campaign to restore five historic railcars.

In total, a release by the railpark says they hope to raise $175,000. After several months, the railpark says it has raised enough funds needed to restore four of the five railcars.

The final project, a Duncan Hines Diner railcar, requires extensive repairs before painting can begin, the release says.

The railpark says it has received a generous $50,000 matching funds commitment from an anonymous donor to restore this railcare.

This means every dollar raised will be doubled. As of Wednesday, the railpark says it has raised $6,325 towards its $50,000 goal.

“This is a historic moment for the RailPark,” said Jamie Johnson, executive director. “We have never received a donation like this before, and we are so grateful for the incredible support. We’re calling on the community to step up and help us reach this goal, knowing that every donation now has twice the impact.”
