Baby box to open this week at Glasgow Fire Department

GLASGOW, Ky. – The public is invited to the blessing of a new baby box at the Glasgow Fire Department on Wednesday, Oct. 16 at noon.
Safe Haven Baby Boxes founded by Monica Kelsey currently has baby boxes in 17 states, offering an option for mothers in crisis, according to a release by Safe Haven. The release says infants can be “safely and legally surrendered” at these baby boxes.
The program says surrendered infants are adopted by registered foster families that foster to adopt.
The new location will be available at 203 South Broadway St. in Glasgow.
The program says surrenders are anonymous.
Safe Haven says it wants to thank local advocates who helped fund and bring the baby box to the community.
For parents in crisis, you may call the organization’s confidential National Hotline at 1-866-99BABY1.
