Wanted Franklin man passes out in vehicle parked in road, served two warrants

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A wanted Franklin man passed out in his vehicle on Thursday morning and is now facing new charges.
The Warren County Sheriff’s Office says it received a call to the 1000 block of Jackson Bridge Road at 4:30 a.m. to a vehicle that was not running with its headlights on. The vehicle was obstructing the southbound lane.
A deputy says a man was lying in the back seat of the vehicle and did not respond to knocking. The deputy opened the vehicle, woke the man up and observed slurred speech.
According to the deputy, the man, identified as Eric Amburgey, 22, of Franklin, said he ran out of gas.
Amburgey was unable to provide an insurance card, and the vehicle tags were expired, deputies say. He also did not have a driver’s license.
During the investigation, the sheriff’s office said marijuana and brass knuckles were located. Amburgey allegedly told the deputy he had smoked marijuana but couldn’t remember what time.
Amburgey was placed under arrest and served two warrants. He is lodged at the Warren County Regional Jail.
Amburgey is charged with no registration plates, no registration receipt, license to be in possession, obstructing a highway, possession of marijuana, drug paraphernalia – buy/possess, carrying a concealed weapon, failure of non-owner operator to maintain required insurance/sec, first offense and public intoxication-controlled substance (excludes alcohol).
Amburgey was served two warrants out of Butler County, stemming from a July 29, 2023 incident where Amburgey led police on a pursuit after a shots fired incident at an apartment.
Amburgey was charged with first-degree bail jumping on September 17, 2024.
