Coats For Kids in Warren County, local law enforcement assists

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – An annual coat drive is underway in Bowling Green and Warren County for kids in need.

News 40 looked to the Bowling Green Police Department and Warren County Sheriff’s Office today as they showed their support for local charity work. The Bowling Green Junior Women’s Club is asking the community to help keep local children warm this winter with their coat donation drive and law enforcement is helping out.

At BGPD headquarters, News 40 spoke to Community Resource Officer Amber Kae Bowman. Bowman told us that the cruiser parked outside is open for donations and this is a service that the police stand behind happily.

Sheriff Brett Hightower said “as local law enforcement, we see these kids firsthand that can benefit from this kind of thing…” standing next to a sheriff cruiser with lowered windows parked in Greenwood Mall.

Both BGPD and WSCO ask the community along with BGJW to consider dropping off gently worn coats to the cruisers in town to go toward a school aged child this winter.
