Volunteers needed to install smoke alarms in Delafield homes

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The American Red Cross of South Central Kentucky and HOTEL INC need your help to assist the Delafield neighborhood.
Both nonprofits are working together to install free smoke alarms, weather radios and first aid kits in 450 homes. However, organizers say they need 50 to 60 volunteers to make this possible.
The initiative is set for Oct. 21-25.
Shifts will run from 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 5 p.m. Lunch will also be provided from noon to 1 p.m., and volunteers will receive a T-shirt.
Organizers say training will be offered at the beginning of each session.
Two or three volunteers at a time will install smoke alarms and weather radios, provide fire and tornado safety education, help create a family escape plan and gather a family’s demographic information.
