Hopkinsville police arrest juvenile for social media threats

HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. – The Hopkinsville Police Department arrested a juvenile for threats posted on social media on Wednesday.

The department says the Investigations section, in cooperation with the Christian County School system and the FBI, arrested a Hopkinsville juvenile believed to be involved in threats to the school system made over social media.

The agencies were notified of a threat made to schools on social media platforms on Monday. The person threatening the school system was unknown. The suspect threatened to shoot several students.

Detectives conducted an investigation and determined the suspect, a juvenile, possessed the device used to create the social media posts. The juvenile attempted to delete evidence.

The juvenile is charged with terroristic threatening 2nd-degree and tampering with physical evidence and is in the custody of the Department of Juvenile Justice.
