UPDATE: Name released of victim in fatal I-65 collision in Warren County
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Kentucky State Police has released further details surrounding a fatal collision on Interstate 65 on Friday evening.
Troopers say they received a call around 7 p.m. in relation to a collision on I-65. Authorities say they arrived at the scene on I-65 northbound at the 22 mile marker.
According to KSP, a 1997 Ford F-150 driven by Manuel Valenzuela Garcia, 37, of Bowling Green was traveling on Cumberland Trace Road.
Authorities say the vehicle left the road and drove through a fence before entering the roadway of I-65.
During this time, troopers say the vehicle collided with a tractor-trailer driven by Adbiaziz Shirdon, 35, of Columbus, Ohio.
Garcia was pronounced dead at the scene by the Warren County Coroner’s Office.
Shirdon was transported to The Medical Center at Bowling Green for treatment of his injuries.
The investigation is ongoing.
