Franklin man almost crashes into police officer, charged with wanton endangerment

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A Franklin man is facing wanton endangerment charges after leading police on a chase.
Bowling Green police say a vehicle was traveling southbound in the northbound lane of Campbell Lane on Sunday.
The vehicle drove directly into the path of a police vehicle, resulting in the officer swerving into the southbound lane to avoid collision with the vehicle.
Police attempted to make a traffic stop. The vehicle continued to drive southbound in the northbound lanes and nearly struck other vehicles at a high rate of speed.
The officer overtook the vehicle at the intersection of Campbell Lane and Nashville Road, causing the vehicle to stop. The officer exited the police vehicle and ordered the vehicle to stop.
The vehicle operator did not comply with the officer and continued onto University Boulevard toward the roundabout. The vehicle turned into the parking lot of Potter Children’s Home.
Police say the vehicle’s operator then held out a piece of paper out of the window and did not comply.
The operator of the vehicle was identified as Carlos Grijalva Albanes, 30 of Franklin.
Police say Grijalva Albanes stated he had one shot and a field sobriety test was conducted. Grijalva Albanes provided officers with an out of the country ID.
Grijalva Albanes is charged with wanton endangerment 1st degree police officer, wanted endangerment 1st degree, fleeing or evading police 1st degree, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol 1st degree, and no operators-moped license.
Grijalva Albanes was lodged at the Warren County Regional Jail.
