Bowling Green Fire Department chief named Chief of the Year
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The chief of the Bowling Green Fire Department is being recognized for his service to the community.
According to the City of Bowling Green, BGFD chief Justin Brooks was named Chief of the Year by the Kentucky Association of Fire Chiefs during a ceremony Wednesday at the Sloan Convention Center.
The city says Brooks has 17 years of experience with the department, with three of those years spent as fire chief.
While receiving the award, Brooks said the honor was less about himself and more about about the men and women who serve with him.
“Justin is all about his people. He is a servant leader always looking out for the best interest of others,” city manager Jeff Meisel said.
Immediately after accepting the honor, city officials say Brooks received a standing ovation from other chiefs throughout the state.
