FEMA surveying storm damage in Simpson County
SIMPSON COUNTY, Ky. – After a damaging storm over Memorial Day weekend, FEMA is in Simpson County surveying damage and trying to provide storm damage relief for residents.
News 40 spoke to Simpson County judge-executive Mason Barnes, who said FEMA will be in town for the next few weeks evaluating damage, knocking on doors and helping people to register for relief.
Barnes said several areas have seen damage, and even if there is only one address listed as being affected, FEMA is checking on everyone.
Barnes said with the presidential declaration they’ve received, individuals are eligible for aid, but while money is available, it is not guaranteed.
Still, the judge encouraged everyone to apply, even if you had to shell out some money to remove trees from your property.
