Local movie “Horntak” filming last few scenes in South Central Kentucky

HORSE CAVE, Ky. – A movie shot right here in South Central Kentucky last year returned to film the last few scenes needed.

“Horntak” is described by cast members as a drama thriller with horror elements about a family who has escaped from a cult, an estranged father & a missing child.

News 40 was allowed access behind the scenes today to get a sneak peek at one of the scenes being filmed in Horse Cave.

We got the chance to speak with the film’s director, who told us about his experience here in South Central Kentucky while filming this movie.

“We’ve had a great time… and we really love the people here… and the locations have been amazing… and {the} Film Commission and everyone involved in between have really come out and been so generous to us… so it was very exciting to come back… finish up these last few pickups and final things for the cut… we’re so impressed and we’re very proud of the team we have. Overall, the film is going to be pretty awesome, but it’s the team that I’m going to always remember,” director Maxwell Murro says.

He also says the team has not quite decided on how they will distribute the film, but to look for its release in 2025.

They plan on hosting a local screening in either Bowling Green or Cave City… and News 40 will keep you updated on when that’s set to take place.
