TVA offering classroom grants within service area
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Teachers and administrators for schools in the Tennessee Valley Area service area have the opportunity to apply for grants from the TVA.
One point five million dollars is available in grants of up to $5,000 each, all to teach and inspire students in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
The TVA gives preference to projects in their area of focus: energy, environmental stewardship, economic development, career development and community problem-solving.
“There may be some student in that western Kentucky school now who one day finds a new way to produce energy, and they just need some of that inspiration they might otherwise not have,” says Adam May, spokesperson for the TVA. “We know a lot of schools don’t have a lot of extra money to put toward these programs.”
The TVA service area covers a large part of southern Kentucky, and many local public and private schools have received grants in the past.
The application material is available on their website at tva.com/stem.
