Med Center offering milk bank for women looking for breastfeeding help

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Med Center Health is offering a new service for mothers looking to feed their children.

This is being called Milk Express, and is in partnership with the Milk Bank of Indiana, who provides breast milk to the Med Center.

Women who provide the milk get screened before it gets put in the fridge… and with the new Milk Express option, it allows for women to go straight to Med Center to get what they need to feed their children.

“It becomes easier and more accessible for moms that are here in Bowling Green, more local. So instead of having to wait for the Milk Bank of Indiana to ship it to their home, they can call us and set up a time and schedule a visit to pick up their milk to take home,” Calista Adams, a lactation consultant with Med Center Health says.

In honor of World Breastfeeding Week, and with this year’s theme being “Support for All,” this new option hopes to help women in the area bridge a gap for things like illness or travel.
