The Medical Center at Bowling Green recognized for stroke care

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Medical Center at Bowling Green is being recognized for its care for stroke patients.

According to a release by Med Center Health, The Medical Center Center at Bowling Green has received the American Heart Association’s Get With The Guidelines® – Stroke GoldPlus quality achievement award.

This is for ensuring patients get treatment according to nationally recognized, research-based guidelines, ultimately leading to more lives saved and reduced disability.

“I am proud of the continued efforts at Med Center Health to provide quality stroke care throughout the region,” said Leslie Rossetter, director of medical services at The Medical Center at Bowling Green. “This award recognizes the care that every team member at Med Center Health gives. It takes an entire team of dedicated healthcare professionals to achieve this kind of award. This recognition validates the commitment we have at Med Center Health to provide quality, evidence-based care for stroke patients in the communities in our region.”

Med Center Health says stroke is the No. 5 cause of death and a leading cause of disability in the United States.

Health officials say early detection and treatment are important to improve survival, minimize disability and improve recovery times.

“Get With The Guidelines puts the expertise of the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association to work for hospitals nationwide, helping ensure patient care is aligned with the latest research and evidence-based guidelines,” according to the release.

Each year, Med Center Health says program participants qualify for the award by showing how their organization has committed to offering quality care for stroke patients.

In addition to following treatment guidelines, Get With The Guidelines participants also educate patients to help them manage their health and recovery at home.
