Louisville paramedic drowns at Barren River Lake

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Authorities are investigating an incident at Barren River Lake.

Kentucky Fish and Wildlife public information officer Cody Fox confirmed a drowning took place at Barren River Lake on Monday.

Fox said officials were dispatched around 3:25 p.m.

According to Fox, four people were located on a boat at the scene, and one male victim did not resurface after entering the water.

The victim is identified as 35-year-old Christian Smith of Louisville.

Smith served as a sergeant paramedic for the Anchorage Middletown Fire & EMS. He was with the agency since 2014
