Bowling Green woman killed, 2 children injured in Christian County crash

FAIRVIEW, Ky. – A Bowling Green woman is dead after a crash in Christian County.

The Christian County Sheriff’s Office was called to a single-vehicle wreck on Monday afternoon.

According to deputies, an SUV driven by Laqway Matthews, 21 of Bowling Green, was traveling eastbound on U.S. Route 68. The vehicle crossed the median and overturned. Matthews was ejected.

Matthews was transported to Jennie Stuart Health in Hopkinsville for treatment. Matthews later died due to injuries sustained in the crash.

Two children in the vehicle, ages 3 and 8, are severely injured. The children were life-flighted to Nashville hospitals for treatment. A fourth passenger in the vehicle did not sustain injuries.

The Christian County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by Christian County Rescue, Fairview Fire Department, Hopkinsville EMS, Air Evac Lifeteam, and Vanderbilt Lifeflight.

The investigation is ongoing.
