Lowest July Fourth gas prices expected in three years

(CNN) – If you’re planning to hit the roads this Fourth of July holiday, gas prices will be one thing worth celebrating.

According to AAA and Gas Buddy, the national average for a gallon of regular gas was $3.50 on Tuesday.

That price is expected to drop by 1 cent by Thursday, which would make the price at the pump the cheapest it’s been on Independence Day in three years.

In 2023, July 4 gas prices were a few cents higher, and in 2022, gas prices were the most expensive at $4.79.

More than 60 million people are expected to drive to their destinations this year.
