Firefighters respond to Glasgow business for reported fire

GLASGOW, Ky. – The Glasgow Fire Department responded to a call to a convenience store on Tuesday.

Crews arrived at the Speedway located at 105 Lincoln Road at 8:15 a.m. following reports of smoke and burning smell inside the business.

Firefighters located a small fire in duct work and extinguished the fire.

According to an investigation, the fire was caused by a blower motor overheating, which caused the accumulated dust to ignite in the duct system. Firefighters shut down power to all components.

The Barren County Health Department was notified and recommended the business remain closed until cleared by the department.

No injuries have been reported.

The Glasgow Fire Department was assisted by the Glasgow Police Department.
