Tackle the Green Fishing Tournament kicked off today
BUTLER COUNTY – The 42nd annual Tackle the Green Fishing Tournament began it’s three day event with $47,000 work of prizes.
From June 28th-30th, fishers and families will search for 139 tagged fish in the green river. The largest tagged fish is worth $10,ooo.
The Morgantown and Butler County Chamber of Commerce and the Green River Catfish Festival has sponsored this year’s tournament. TGFT will lead into the Green River Catfish Festival where winners will be announced or recognized.
The fish can only be caught with a pole, but there is no limit set for the amount of poles an individual has. Participants can fish from either the bank or their own boat.
Admission for all three days prior to June 28th was $15, after 6:00 a.m. today, guests have to pay $15 per day. TGFT will begin at 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., check in is located at the Morgantown boat ramp on Old River Rd.
There are different categories for veterans of the tournament and for the youth to experience. Winners must be present to win the prizes and they are also subject to a lie detector test.
