(CNN) – You may want to check your refrigerator.

Foppen seafood is recalling its Smoked Norwegian Salmon Slices because of possible listeria contamination.

The recall affects the 8.1-ounce toast-sized cuts sold at Kroger and Payless grocery stores in 15 states, including Kentucky.

They say the contamination specifically affects lot 412.

The company says routine testing found the presence of listeria, which can cause fever, muscle aches, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea.

Some people are more at risk of infection, including the elderly, pregnant women, their unborn babies, infants less than a month old and people with weakened immune systems.

Consumers should throw out the salmon or return it for a refund.
