Michigan women arrested in multi-state scam involving Bowling Green Lowe’s

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Two Flint, Michigan women are facing charges in an alleged scam involving retail stores in multiple states.

According to a uniform citation, the Bowling Green Police Department responded Monday for a request from an organized retail crime investigator for Lowe’s concerning a multi-state scam suspect vehicle that had recently left an Elizabethtown, Kentucky store.

Police say the two women had obtained over $1,000 in merchandise from the store after a scam using a card.

Upon arrival, police say Target asset protection informed them that one of the women was making a return at the store. The uniform citation states the suspect vehicle nearly hit the officer’s cruiser before it pulled over to Lowe’s.

P0lice say they conducted a traffic stop and identified the driver as 24-year-old Chelsey Larry and the passenger as 24-year-old Erin Moore.

After receiving consent to search the vehicle, police say they located an “extremely large amount of merchandise from Lowe’s, Walmart and other stores” at an estimated value of $5,000.

While speaking with the above subjects, police say both denied wrongdoing, although Larry stated she did not have sufficient funds to purchase the items. Police say they additionally located marijuana and U.S. currency.

The investigation is ongoing. Police say it has been confirmed the vehicle has been present at multiple Lowe’s stores in Kentucky, Tennessee, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, New York and Rhode Island.

Both were transported to the Warren County Detention Center.

Both face charges of theft of retail merchandise for resale, receiving stolen property between $1,000 and $10,000, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia- buy/possess.
