Warren County Sheriff’s Office receiving reports of Bitcoin scam

WARREN COUNTY, Ky. – The Warren County Sheriff’s Office is receiving reports on the latest phone scam.
The sheriff’s office says a call from a spoofed number makes it look like the WCSO is calling you. The caller then states they work with the sheriff’s office and say you have missed federal jury duty and have a bench warrant.
In addition, the caller asks you to withdraw cash from your bank, go to Kroger to deposit into a a kiosk to buy Bitcoin and come to the sheriff’s office for an autograph verification. The scam states you will be reimbursed.
The WCSO says it will never call about missing a court date, jury duty or to issue a warrant.
It also says court fees and warrants cannot be settled with cash, gift cards, Bitcoin or any other cryptocurrency.
