Wanted woman arrested in Cave City on drug charges

CAVE CITY, Ky. – A woman is facing charges after a traffic stop in Barren County on Thursday.

According to the Cave City Police Department, an officer stopped a white passenger car on North Dixie Highway in Cave City, Kentucky around 6:12 p.m. due to the driver having a suspended license.

Police say they identified the driver as 36-year-old Ruthann Garcia.

During the stop, police say they detected the odor of marijuana and searched the vehicle, which led to the discovery of a plastic bag containing suspected methamphetamine and a broken glass pipe. In addition, police say they discovered Garcia had active warrants for her arrest.

Police say they also located suspected marijuana on the passenger, identified as Ameris Liffick.

Garcia was arrested and charged with operating on suspended operator license, failure to produce an insurance card, first-degree possession of controlled substance, first offense-methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and open alcoholic beverage container inside vehicle. Garcia was also served with two active warrants for her arrest.

Liffick was charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia and cited to court.

Garcia remains at the Barren County Detention Center.
