BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A local shelter has had almost 200 intakes since Monday.

The Bowling Green-Warren County Humane Society says starting Friday, it is offering $25 adoptions after entering an emergency state. The reduced-free adoption event lasts until June 9.

The shelter says if the situation continues at this rate, they will need to make some hard decisions.

Over the years, The Bissell Pet Foundation has saved thousands of BGWCHS shelter pets over the years. At the last adoption event, over 200 pets were adopted. Still, following a holiday weekend and severe weather, intakes have surged, and the humane society is nearing capacity with dangerous speed.

However, even if you can’t adopt, you can still help by fostering or sponsoring an adoption.

To learn more, visit the Bowling Green-Warren County Humane Society, visit the shelter at 1924 Louisville Road or call 270-842-8572.
