Bowling Green man arrested on DUI, wanton endangerment charges

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A Bowling Green man is facing charges after allegedly driving under the influence with children in the vehicle.
According to a uniform citation, the Kentucky State Police clocked a vehicle traveling 84 miles per hour on Thursday on Veterans Memorial Lane toward Glen Lily Road.
Troopers say they had to reach 100 mph to catch up to the vehicle.
The uniform citation states the driver, identified as 33-year-old Jamir Gul of Bowling Green, Kentucky, turned into the opposite lane at a high speed onto Old Barren River Road before stopping at the intersection of Crewdson Drive.
Troopers say they arrested Gul and could smell the odor of alcohol coming from him.
KSP says they located three children in the back seat of the vehicle without proper equipment for their age and without seat belts restraining them.
The children were transported from the scene, according to troopers.
The uniform citation states Gul showed multiple signs of being intoxicated during sobriety tests.
Troopers say they learned Gul allegedly had been drinking at home before he got into the vehicle with the three children and left to drink somewhere else.
Gul was transported to the Warren County Detention Center.
He is charged with speeding 26 mph or greater over the speed limit, reckless driving, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, first offense (aggravating circumstances), failure to use child restraint device in a vehicle, failure to maintain required insurance, first offense, failure to register transfer of motor vehicle, first-degree wanton endangerment, failure to wear seat belts and violation of a Kentucky EPO/DVO.
