LOTUS looks to bring awareness to fentanyl and xylazine in the community
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A new organization in Bowling Green is looking to advocate for fentanyl awareness as well as another drug they say isn’t getting talked about enough.
LOTUS is a group that hopes to bring awareness to the dangers of fentanyl and xylazine in the community.
The group includes a harm reduction support group, which is meant to help those struggling with addiction to these dangerous drugs.
They also have a distribution aspect, which helps with providing tests for these different kinds of drugs to help addicts reduce the harm they are causing themselves with these drugs.
Their main goal is getting people help if they need and/or want it.
“Even if you’re not willing to quit, I just want you to live… I want to love you where you’re at, not where I would have you be. Of course I would have you abstinent… of course I would have that for you, but if that’s not what you truly want, then I don’t want to force that upon you,” Amber Hann, the founder of LOTUS says.
She explained the difference between the two drugs, saying you can not Narcan someone out of xylazine if they have it in their system because it functions as a tranquilizer.
She also says there’s an open door and an empty seat at their support meetings, where you can choose to remain anonymous if you want.
